I see many Minato fans saying that he is a true sage like Uzumaki Naruto and Jiraya and think that his sage mode works the same as theirs. I find this idea very weird. He suddenly \u201chas it\u201d, even after having several opportunities to use and never even hitting that he could do it. It just seems weird. Besides, he clearly can enter a perfect sage mode form, but \u201cisn\u2019t good at it\u201d, and \u201cnever\/rarely uses it in a fight\u201d? Those things made me wonder, and I think that his sage mode probably won\u2019t even make him stronger at all. Here I have some evidence for why I think this.<\/p>\n
1 –<\/span> The toads of Mount Myabuku trained both Uzumaki Naruto and Jiraya. They knew who trained and who dominated the senjutsu. While it seems appreciable (although hard to believe) that Namikaze Minato trained outside of that place, without the special oil from Mount Myabuku, just with Jiraya, and the managed to learn it, you must remember that Jiraya believed Minato to be the boy of the prophecy. You think Jiraya, who maintained constant contact with the Mount Myabuku toads through all his life, wouldn\u2019t have told them about the boy of the prophecy (which elder created) having learned senjutsu?<\/p>\n 2 –<\/span> Even when Uzumaki Naruto showed them his senjutsu, Namikaze Minato thought \u201cwow, Naruto have learned the same technique as master Jiraya!\u201d. This words is weird, and indicates that Minato hasn\u2019t learned sage mode.<\/p>\n 3 –<\/span> When Minato attacked on Obito (Tobi) with the bijuu mode rasengan, Namikaze Minato asked Naruto to gather natural energy, when Minato could in theory have done it himself. Ok, so far all I have said could have been explained by saying Namikaze Minato was being modest, he didn\u2019t consider himself good enough yet or Minato realized that Uzumaki Naruto was better at gathering natural energy than him. This makes sense.<\/p>\n There are Four reasons for why I consider Namikaze Minato\u2019s sage mode kindda like a non factor in a fight-<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n 1 \u2013 HIS SAGE MODE IS NOT AT THE SAME LEVEL AS Uzumaki NARUTO\u2019S –<\/span> Kakashi Hatake, who were no sage expert and have only seen Uzumaki Naruto\u2019s sage mode at that point (and maybe Jiraya) saw Namikaze Minato\u2019s and said \u201cwell, sensei uh\u2026 your sage mode isn\u2019t very good\u2026\u201d. To me, this was meant to show that the difference between Namikaze Minato\u2019s sage mode and Naruto\u2019s is quite clear, even for someone not trained in the art. So even if Minato were to use it, I don\u2019t think it would make any of a difference.<\/p>\n 2 \u2013 HE DIDN\u2019T SEEM TO GET ANY STRONGER WHEN USING SAGE MODE –<\/span> People see Minato entering a perfect sage mode and instantly think he became as strong as Uzumaki Naruto, but when Namikaze Minato actually used sage mode, he attacked Uchiha Madara with a common sized Rasengan, instead of one of those huge ones both Uzumaki Naruto and Jiraya can make. It would have been more useful in that moment, increasing his destructive power and range. Why would someone hold back against Madara? And I\u2019m not just talking about ninjutsu. He didn\u2019t show any improvement in speed, strength, reflexes, sensing skills. anything. Now, I understand he was fighting the six paths uchiha Madara with both Rinnengan, so of course I wasn\u2019t expecting him to put up a fight, but Minato could at least have lasted a bit longer, like 7 gates might Gai did.<\/p>\n 3 \u2013 MINATO SAGE MODE DOESN\u2019T LAST LONG –<\/span> When he got hit, he instantly lost his sage mode. I know it was a very strong attack by an overpowered enemy. I know. But when he lost his first arm to Uchiha Obito, he didn\u2019t lose kyuubi mode. Besides, when Senju Tobirama and Senju Hashirama\u2019s clone were hit by Ten tails Uchiah Obito, they were torn in half, yet that didn\u2019t stop them from using their techniques. It seems like you don\u2019t feel pain when you\u2019re an Edo. So why would Minato lose his power so fast? To me, it indicates his technique is very unstable. Besides there is also that problem of Minato taking too much time to gather the sage energy.<\/p>\n 4 \u2013 MINATO NEVER USES IT IN A REAL FIGHT –<\/span> Finally, in the night Minato died, Namikaze Minato was in the perfect situation for using sage mode. he was standing in front of the Kyuubi, which was completely restrained and unable to move (I think people don\u2019t give Kushina enough praise for this feature), so he had TIME to enter sage mode. Uzumaki Kushina was going to die from having had the Kyuubi extracted from her body, and Namikaze Minato knew that, so he had the REASON to try to stay alive for his son. Still, instead of at least trying anything else before, he went straight for the \u201cI\u2019m gonna kill myself\u201d move, knowing that his newborn son would grow up both father and motherless because of it.<\/p>\n EVEN WHEN HAVING BOTH THE REASON AND THE TIME, HE WOULD RATHER DIE BEFORE EVEN TRYING ANYTHING IN SAGE MODE. If Minato didn\u2019t try this in a fight against the Kyuubi, Minato wouldn\u2019t try this against anyone else. but it makes sence, right?<\/p>\n \u201cBut MINATO was already out of chakra at that moment!\u201d \u2013 Then why didn\u2019t Minato summon the Great Two Toad Sages there? I think their genjutsu would\u2019ve been pretty useful. Or at least Mah\u2019s water style cutting technique. I think Minato simply can\u2019t summon them.
