Finally, we come to Boruto’s eye. The majority of the content regarding his eye is covered in episodes 8 and 9 of the anime, spanning from the strange dream boruto has until the end of the visit to Hyuga manor. The dream involves several major points to this theory. Firstly, it is infinitely clear that the place in Boruto’s dream is Toneri’s palace on the moon. Additionally, while his face is never revealed, Toneri is the person who speaks to boruto. This is not some creation of Boruto’s mind gone mad, since the presumed Toneri speaks directly and states the he is speaking to boruto through the dream. in the frames where Toneri lifts his finger to point at Boruto, it shows the sage’s magatama (or tomoe, whichever you like) around his neck, identical to toneri’s. As Boruto awakens from his dream, his eye is activated, revealing its true design. pausing in those frames, we see the full design of Boruto’s eye. The pale blue/teal portion is nearly identical to the depiction of the Tenseigan in Toneri. The black outer portion is still unknown as to its reasons. Episode 9 furthers the eye plot point, with Boruto’s duel with Hanabi. While Hanabi concludes that the byakugan has not manifested in Boruto, she does not rule out the possibility of it manifesting in the future. Furthermore, Hiashi notes how whatever Boruto’s eye is, it wasn’t the byakugan.

Now obviously, none of this directly points to Boruto having reincarnated Hamura’s chakra and awakened the Tenseigan. As of yet, this is all pure speculation. However, much of the existing signs in both the anime, the eye powers themselves, and Boruto’s ancestry point to him having some form of it.
